- 2 engineers erected the tower in one day on 26th September 1990
- The tower was shipped from Denmark in one piece on a transporter and required a police escort to bring it to Godmanchester
- The cost of installing it was £175,000 in 1990. It paid for itself in 3 years
- The centre can use the electricity itself but it is more economical to sell the electricity to our local electrical company
- The height to the tip of the blades is 43 metres. The hub is 30 metres high
- The tower can be seen from 10 miles away
- The tower has been built to withstand wind speeds of up to 180 mph
- The blades do stop in winds of under 3.5 m/sec. This does not happen too often and only for a short time
- The blades cut out in winds of over 25 m/sec because at higher speeds the structure could become unstable
- It has a life expectancy of 25 years and Wood Green Animal Shelters has allowed 20 years before refurbishing
