Small Animals

All three of the Wood Green shelters take in and rehome small animals which range from a variety of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters to the more unusual chinchilla, degu and birds.

A large assortment of birds, ducks and fish also find themselves living at Wood Green on and in the lake at the Godmanchester shelter.

All of the small animals are checked over by the onsite vets when they are brought in for rehoming and all rabbits are vaccinated against Myxomatosis and x-rays are taken of their teeth to check for any existing problems.

The male rabbits and guinea pigs are castrated unless they live with or are to be rehomed with other males.

There are a variety of reasons why small animals are brought in to Wood Green which include children losing interest, or owners developing an allergy to them.
