Sparky was homeless, cold and hungry when he arrived at our door. He was brought to us by the local dog warden after he was found wandering the streets all alone during the recent heavy snow storms.
Friendly and sociable and always eager to make friends, we could see he desperately wanted affection and to be loved by someone special.
When he arrived, we gave him lots of love and fuss, a hearty meal and a nice warm bed to sleep in.
He clearly loved company and struggled emotionally when he was left alone in his kennel. He would often cry until someone gave him a cuddle. Our team at Wood Green really loved Sparky and he was often found in the offices being given lots of fuss. I’m delighted to tell you that it wasn’t long before a family enquired about him and offered him a home. They were a perfect match for little Sparky, in fact they already had a dog and when this fun loving chap met ‘Trudy’ his tail never stopped wagging!
With your help, homeless dogs like Sparky will never be alone and unloved again.
Late one night, little Gabriel entered the security office at our Godmanchester Shelter. He was so small that he had to meow to get the guard’s attention! The nights were freezing and poor Gabriel was very cold indeed.
That night he was cuddled, fed and then given a warm and cosy igloo bed to sleep in.
The next day he was given a thorough veterinary examination and although very small and weak he was healthy. Because of his size, we estimated him to be between 6 and 8 weeks old.
Gabriel continued to get strong and just recently we found him a loving family of his own. Despite his desperate beginning which easily could have been tragic had he not sought shelter, little Gabriel is thriving in his new home where he is much-loved and content. |
