How can I help?
You may now have decided that you would like to volunteer your time to support Wood Green but are not yet sure what you can get involved with. Firstly, a big thank you from all of us here, your support is very much appreciated and valued by everyone of us and the animals in our care.
So, now to how you can get involved.
Wood Green currently has three Centres in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and North London. As well as our Charity Shops.
Each centre cares for and rehomes a different array of animals, so if you are interested in working with or for a specific species the list below may help you choose:
- Godmanchester – Dogs, cats, small animals, chickens and field animals
- London – Cats only
- Heydon – Small animals, chickens and cats
What ways can I help?
There are various ways you can volunteer depending on your interests, skills and experience. All current vacancies are available here but the list below gives you an idea of the sort of roles you could undertake.
The welfare, care and enrichment of the animals at Wood Green is of paramount importance and we frequently have roles available within the various animal sections and centres.
Roles can include husbandry duties such as cleaning, feeding and grooming the animals through to general socialisation and environmental enrichment.
The Community Engagement Teams sole purpose is to educate people, young and old, about responsible pet ownership and promoting the Wood Green cause. We have roles available for supporting events, tour guides, mascots, challenge events and community engagement.
Corporate Services encompasses a vast variety of roles for you to choose from and includes maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, grounds and mechanical maintenance through to stores, security and environmental roles.
We also welcome applications from keen gardeners for various specialist projects at each of our centres.
Our Fundraising Teams are always looking for volunteers to help support community events or take part in an extreme challenge to raise money for Wood Green. Other roles available include delivering campaign packs and selling raffle tickets - ideal for those with minimal availability but still wish to help support Wood Green.
Companies, groups and clubs
Volunteering as a group through your workplace, team or club is not only a great way help a charity in your local community but will also help build a strong supportive team that will be boosted by a sense of group achievement. Can’t find what you are looking for?
If you cannot find a role that suits you it is worth regularly checking the Wood Green website as new roles are being developed and advertised all the time.
Due to a large number of people interested in volunteering at Wood Green our recruitment process has changed, as a result we are unable to accept speculative applications forms or CV’s. All available roles will be advertised on the Wood Green website, to apply please follow the sign up process and all applicants successful or not will be contacted within two weeks of the closing date.
All required fields in the online application form must be completed in order for your interest to be put forward for shortlisting by the relevant department. Paper application forms are available to those who are unable to access the online process by contacting 0300 303 9333 extension 1210.
